Mobile Suit Gundam Online Overview
Mobile Suit Gundam Online is a third-person shooter MMO brought to life by Bandai Namco Entertainment. The game features massive-scale battles with up to 104 players at once on a variety of battlefields taken from the series. Take control of a variety of mobile suits from the game's two factions, Federation and Zeon, each with specific roles in battle, including artillery, assault, engineer, heavy, and sniper. Mobile suits can be customized to player tastes, allowing a variety of different weapon loud-outs and mobile suit upgrades that range from reload speed to stronger armor. One of the game's unique features is its commander system that allows one player on each team to spectate the entire match from an RTS perspective, giving them controls to manipulate the battlefield and send out orders to their team. Summon air strikes, radar, a nuclear briefcase, and more, awarding points to players who follow the commander's strategies.

Development History / Background:
Mobile Suit Gundam Online is developed and published by Bandai Namco Entertainment, prominent entertainment company known for publishing a variety of licensed properties including Rise of Incarnates, Supernova, and One Piece: Treasure Cruise. MSGO was announced on December 9, 2011 by Namco Bandai in search of alpha testers. The game went into an open beta on October 24, 2012, releasing fully on December 25, 2012 in Japan only, blocking IPs outside of the country. An open beta was later announced on August 5, 2016 for the Taiwan gaming audience. There is currently no information regarding a global release.

Universal Century Gundam Online was a massively multiplayer online role-playing game based in the Universal CenturyGundam universe that launched in 2006.
There was a monthly fee for this game which is ¥1575 for 30 days of access (approximately US$17).
On June 15, 2007, Dimps announced that Gundam Online would be going offline at 10:00 JST on December 15, 2007. The game is no longer in service.[1]

Gameplay[edit]
Players control an avatar within a game world in a third person view. Players can also pilot various vehicles and Mobile Suits. They can fight various other Mobile Suits, Vehicles controlled by other players, or NPCs.
Each Mobile Suit and Vehicle may be improved by the player and outfitted with an array of equipment.
The player's avatar can be created on one of two factions, the Principality of Zeon or the Earth Federation Forces, each with their own unique cities, vehicles, and Mobile Suits.[2]
Players may attack other players of the opposing faction, as well as their own.
Players may form teams, which organize large groups of players and allow them coordinate activities through a reserved chat channel.

In order to combat enemies, players must 'lock-on' to their enemies and initiate attacks, but all aiming of the weapons in the game is done automatically.
Setting[edit]
The game takes place in the Gundam Universal Century universe, more specifically the One Year War period.
Players can only participate on the continent Australia and in a limited zone in space around the Earth. Currently the player cannot go to the Moon or any colonies.

Before closing, the game was primarily populated with Japanese players, but international players often found ways to get into the game and made up a minority of the population.
Despite the closing of the official server, community members have created their own private servers in an attempt to revive the game.
