Ps1 Iso Download
Posted : admin On 4/29/2019Download Sony PlayStation One ISO/PSX games, but first download an emulator to play Sony PlayStation One ISO/PSX ROMS. PCSX-Reloaded w32 1.9.92 PSX ROMS Emulator for Windows - Works Great.
Sony’s original PlayStation, now know as the PSX, had some fantastic games. And if you can’t download your old favorites on your PS3 or PS4, you can play them on your PC! By downloading an emulator, a BIOS, and a ROM or two, you’ll be retro gaming in no time. Here’s how to get it done.
Download ePSXe
There are a few different emulators you can use, but ePSXe is the most popular and has gotten updates as recently as October 2016. So we’ll be using that one. If you have recommendations for different emulators, please share them below!
To get started, head over to ePSXe’s website and download the app. There’s no installer file, so you’ll just need to unzip the folder and move the files to wherever you want them. I created an ePSXe205 folder in the Program Files (x86) folder and extracted the files there (ePSXe is a 32-bit app, so it belongs in the x86 folder). If you’re on a 32-bit version of Windows, you can do the same in the Program Files folder.
When you run the app for the first time, you may see a dialog telling you to extract additional files. Extract them and fire up ePSXe by double-clicking on the app icon (it looks like a PlayStation controller).
Set Up ePSXe
There are several steps you’ll need to take to get everything set up. If you don’t already have a PlayStation BIOS installed, you’ll see a warning and have to install one (remember that if you don’t own a PSX, downloading the BIOS is piracy). Just run a search online for “epsxe HLE BIOS” and grab the file called scph1001.bin. When you’ve downloaded it, extract the zipped file to the bios folder in your ePSXe folder.
If you’ve done it correctly, you’ll now see SCPH1001.bin in C:Program Files (x86)ePSXebios. If you’re on 32-bit Windows, this will be in the Program Files folder instead.
Next, you’ll see a menu with a couple different graphics drivers and some suggestions. If you have an Nvidia or AMD graphics card, select Pete’s OpenGL2 GPU core 2.0.0. and click Config. If the resulting window looks like a bunch of gibberish7 Common Video Game Graphics Settings Explained7 Common Video Game Graphics Settings ExplainedDon't know what those settings on your video games are all about? Let us explain what they mean and how they affect your games!Read More, just click OK.
But if you want to make specific tweaks for your game graphics, you can dig in here. Textures, resolutions, full-screen, framerate limiting, and other settings are available. You can also select Fast or Nice default settings at the bottom of the window. If you’re using a graphics card that’s even close to modern, you should be able to run very high settings without an issue. When you’re done, hit OK at the bottom of the screen and Next >> in the configuration window. And don’t worry, you can always adjust these options from the Config menu later.
Sound and Controller
The sound drivers window does the same for sound. Accepting the default ePSXe driver is probably fine, but if there are others available, you can choose to configure one of those. Hit Config for a few options, then hit OK and Next >>. The CD-ROM plugins are up next; if you’re using Windows 10, select ePSXe CDR WNT/W2K core 2.0.0. Hit Next >>.
Finally, you’ll set up your controllers. ePSXe support a number of different controller setups. Click the drop-down menu in the top-right corner to select the device you’ll be using; the screenshot below shows the setup for using a standard keyboard. Once you have the keys mapped how you want them (just click on a letter and tap the key you want to replace it with), hit OK and Next >>. A message saying that ePSXe is configured will appear and you’re ready to rock!

Getting PSX Games Onto Your Windows PC
Now that the console is ready, it’s time to pick out some games! Just like with the BIOS, if you don’t own the game, you’re committing an act of piracy by downloading it. If you do own the game, though, download away! There are tons of places to download ROMs; a quick Google search should reveal all you need.
Once you’ve chosen a game and downloaded the corresponding ZIP file, it’s time to do some more extracting. You may need 7-Zip to extract this one, so if you don’t have it, grab it now. ePSXe can run files that end in BIN, ISO, CUE, IMG, .CD, and a few others. You’ll most like see BIN, ISO, or CUE. Once you’ve extracted your game file, you can move it to wherever you’d like. It’s a good idea to make a folder for ROMs inside your ePSXe folder so they’re all in one place.
To start the game, click File > Run ISO and select your ROM. The game will start up, and you’ll be playing a PSX game on your PC!
Using ePSXe
From here on out, play the games using whatever control scheme you’ve decided on. A few tips, though, to help the experience go more smoothly:
- To get out of emulation, hit Esc. You’ll be taken back out to the main screen. From there, you can adjust options or consult your controller mappings. To get back into the game, hit Run > Continue.
- From the main menu, you can also save and load games from the Run menu. If you’re playing a game with multiple discs and need to change to the next one, use File > Change Disc.
ePSXe can be enhanced with additional plugins, but figuring out which ones to use and how to get them properly configured can be a bit of a hassle. Nevertheless, you can check out a list of plugins that are recommended for PSX emulators and do some exploring. If you have any recommendations on plugins, let us know.

thanx a lotCan anyone please help me out? I always end up with a black screen. I'm using ePSXe1.70 at the moment. I tried all sorts of BIOS, and the minute I run ISO of FinalFantasy9 the black screen comes up. And there's no sound/music during this. I'm using Vista. I followed all instructions in online guides and forums. No idea what else to do. Please?
I don't have playstation CDs (anymore) so I download the games from rom sites. I usually have to download more parts of the games, but I don't know why do I need all the parts when I can play the games with just part 1. Can somebody help me with this cuz I have a download limit so downloading parts that I don't need would be kinda stupid.
You need all parts to play a game. You install it just by clicking part1, but that does not mean that only part 1 is required.
Hi, thanks for the great article.

Under United States law, obtaining a dumped copy of the original machine's BIOS is legal under the ruling Lewis Galoob Toys, Inc. v. Nintendo of America, Inc., 964 F.2d 965 (7th Cir. 1992) as fair use as long as the user obtained a legally purchased copy of the machine. However, several emulators for platforms such as Game Boy Advance are capable of running without a BIOS file, using high-level emulation to simulate BIOS subroutines at a slight cost in emulation accuracy.

hi whats the plug in directort??
hey hi... this is hard help me pls ....whats the plug in directory
well i got my answer from another site, this tells you next to nothing, next time put everything in your damn article and maybe not so many people will be asking boatloads of questions that can easily be put into writing.
I remember using 'virtual game station' in 99 with a Pentium II Intel processor cpu! with only 30 fps, it's amazing how people thought emulation of playstation was impossible!
it's better then perfect with epsxe since 2001 and i remember going crazy when i first played gran turismo 1 on my pc! PSx games will never get old and i will always remember them..........
I have just spoken in amazement of how far emulators have come! ps2 on pc now full speed ! oh my god!
...amazing
I just looked through this whole thread and there is not ONE link to any game downloading sites. is there any link to crash team racing, ive tried tonnes and can't get it to work. I've got everything else set though I think.
plug ins are not avaliable at the moment? all the links are gone? any ideas where i can find em? thnx!
Hi iv got windows vista on a laptop , dell inspiron basic and i wanna know what graphic plugins to instail and maybe a link to get them for the Umu. thanks also sound would rock to if u can gime a link for it also.
can any one explain about emulators and temmme how to install this files in my pc
Why I can't load Twistead metal? There is black screen. I tried to go to BIOS, there I see Sony logo loading and then 2 functions (memory card and other 1)
I tried to change video setings, but nothing happened :/
is there any way to play games not released in the US in english
Don't bother playing games on this with more than one disc because you'll only get as far as the end of disc 1. When you insert second disc, and file:insert cd drive, you hear the disc spinning like crazy, then it just stops as the screen remains prompting you to insert disc 2, (brand new game, not a single scratch on it) better off just buying a ps 1 at a pawn shop or something.
yeah its all good except it wont start playing 'disc 2' when you put it in when prompted. can you only play single disc games or something? i've tried EVERYTHING in the file menu such as insert cd drive and even configuration menu ( no dice)
I clicked on the link to get the zlib.dll file but the link does not work. Can someone tell me were to get the zlib.dll
I am getting a problem. Sound is coming but no video is being displayed. If there is any problem with the Video Plugin, then tell me whish plugin I must use????
Thanks.hi, i really don't know the problem, but when i run the game it says 'missing render-texture extention' and it refuses to open then when i chooses to close it says 'No pixel format available'.
Good luck on Ps1 emulation. I tried it out myself and my computer got a bunch of viruses. One virus most notably that used up 98% of my CPU capacity. My hats off to anyone that can put up with crap like that. I'll just play the discs on my ps2 and be happy
Someone else mentioned it but no one has given a fix.
I finally got everyhitng working, save for a few minor hiccups, and (final fantasy 8) i got into a battle and it didnt show the health/action command sections. which is kind of a gamebreaker so idk what to do, any help would be appreciated
great information.these instruction help me to play Sony PlayStation games on my PC.
where can i get 'gnupeteopengl2.dll' ... hard to find dude.
hey, i really need some help figuring this stuff out hah.
on the part where you say...'We’ll extract these files in the bios directory (you can also delete the ‘erase.me’ file)'...i have downloaded the PSX BIO's and can see them in the winrar folder, but how do you extract them into the specific bio's folder on the ePSXe winrar folder?
it's probably simple, but nothing i try seems to work.
Cheers! You click 'extract to' and then a box pops up and you find the bios folder on your computer (the one that should be extracted already, assuming you have downloaded and extracted your emulator) and click on it. Click ok and you are good to go.
Simon I do not own my playstation any longer. I do not own any games for it but I have the ROM files. I want to play them again but when I do all you say in the tutorial it will not let me uelse ROM fils it says I have to have a disk. Is there a way or another emulator i can use to allow me to play them just like with the visualboy advance emulator? Just a simple drag and drop thing? If so please let me know I really miss final fantasy 7
I installed this correctly but when I told it to play the disc, it told me my render texture was missing and there was no pixel format. How do I fix this?

I got this to work :D I'm using the Wiimote Classic Controller, might buy a PS3 controller though. Thanks for this, Just been playing Spyro 3 and some Persona. Bit annoyed that all the screen kind of shakes, not the way a PS2 emu does though. I think I've pretty much turned my comp into the ultimte gaming machine (I have a Wii, PS2, N64, Dreamcast, MegaDrive, Sega CD, 32x, NES, SNES and a Gamecube emulator, other than PS2 and Wii it's all flawlessly run. I'm going to a fair few more though :D)

help meI've played psx games on my PC all these years using 'virtual game station'
I realize this is about the PS1, but FWI PS2 emulation is crap on most PCs. What these fan boy articles dont tell you is that PS2 games are need a minimum of a fast dual core CPU system. Ive been to these website where fanboys tell you the PS2 emulators work but they are lying. Also many games simply dont work or get buggy at some point in the game because of a timing issue that only the PS2 system works with. How would you like to play a game for 2 hours only to lose it all on a bug? The problem programmers are having is that if they fix only thing, its screws something on another game up. The PS3 emulator for the PS2 cant unscrew Sonys timing mess. Next time some company goes out of its way to create super security, they should remember not to try so hard they screw themselves. Unless you are bored to tears this is a waste of your time. BTW there are emulators for other consoles and you can get a joy stick to USB adapter if you want to use the original consoles joysticks. I cant bother with PS1 games, mostly brainless shoot-em-up games stuff. PS2 picked it up a little but consoles have a long way to go before they get to complexity of PC games. Problem is that PC games require more intelligence to make and more testing costs and PC users pirate everything these days. There is no money in it. Crysis still hasnt sold as many game as Grand Theft sold in 3 months.
I was looking through this artical and I found it interesting, but I don't think it is what I am looking for. I am sort of new to this whole thing and I really need some advice, how would I just convert my video game files so they work for pc? It's originally for psp, but I was wondering how would I change them so they work for my pc? If anybody knows how please tell me. Thank you.
Pretty sweet tutorial, gonna try this for sure, thanks.
gee, now i can do what i've been doing for years now. epsxe isn't anything new. i've run it on a celeron processor before.
Even budget PCs can emulate PSX now, I've been doing it maybe seven years. Anything P4 or greater probably works. However, good luck with PS2. My core 2 duo 3.0ghz 4GB DDR2 machine barely runs PS2 playably.
I find PSX (psxemulator.gazaxian.com) a far better emulator and easier to setup. No tinkering with plug-ins.
Check it out!
PSXe man i thought everyone knew this.....
I remember almost 10 years ago Bleem! came out emulating the PSX and was in stores such as Best Buy. It worked pretty well.
When do we get Part 2?
When he gets out of jail for pirating bios images.
I have used Emulators (Emu's) for years. they are available for ALL the popular consoles and ROMS (games) are abundant if you know where to look.
JT
FireME.To/udiThe BIOS files are illegal to have regardless of whether or not you own the console.
Debatable.
that's stupid. the bios is IN the console, you already own it if you have one. if you dump it yourself, and copy or use your own games, the use of epsxe or any other emulator is completely legal.
I just dug out my PSX to play some of the old games not to long ago. I guess now I can play them on the go.
while this is a great article its also a bit old, I have been playing PSX games on my computer for ages already.
Yeah It is old. I have a better emulator. Its called PSXfin. It could run any format of images like .img .cdz .bin .iso and .mds, and any psx cd-rom that you have. I tried epsxe and it never worked for me. Even with the configuration files it never worked.
OK... How can I get the games? I need a way to play without using PS CDs... I just want to insert the file in the emulator & that's it ( like super nintendo emulator )... So is there anyway to do so?
With the right driver you can use your PS3 controller via its USB cable thingy. I finished Spyro 2: Ripto's Rage with 100% completion (again) on my PC with my PS3 controller in this manner :D
i cant get spyro to work on mine it wont read it because its not the right file type how can i get it to work?

About pSX
This tutorial is to help you with pSX for Windows. It's a PlayStation 1 emulator that works to its peak capacity right out of the box. That's great for people who don't want to fuss with ePSXe's plug-in system. You can play games via the CD-ROM or via ISO.
pSX is an abandoned emulator that hasn't been updated since 2007. It's still a pretty good emulator, though. It runs well on slower and/or older machines.
*If you would like to download pSX, I have it in my emulators page.

The PlayStation 1 BIOS is required in order to boot games. This is a separate download after you've downloaded pSX. Below you can download this BIOS.
- PlayStation 1 BIOS (236 KB). Download by right-clicking link and go to Save Link As. When saving, rename the “_ip” file extension to “zip”. If you don't see the file extension, try showing them.
Here's what to do after you download the BIOS:
- Extract the BIOS from its zip file. Drag “Scph1001.bin” to pSX's BIOS folder, as shown below:
- Open pSX. Go to File > Configuration, as shown below:
- Click on the BIOS tab. Then click the “...” button (shown below). Select the “Scph1001.bin” BIOS file, then click Open.
- Click OK. Then close pSX. The next time you open pSX, it will be ready for you load a game.
Installation
pSX is a standalone program so it does not have an install wizard. Installation is simple: just extract pSX from its zip file. Not sure how to extract zip files? Here's a video tutorial showing you how: how to unzip files on Windows.
IMPORTANT! pSX must be placed in a common folder on your computer. I recommend Documents, Downloads, or create a folder on your desktop. If you place pSX somewhere else on your main C drive, then you may be restricting it to read-only access. This prevents pSX from saving anything.
To open pSX, double-click on
Q: I get a missing d3dx9_26.dll error!
Upon opening pSX for the first time, you might encounter a “Missing d3dx9_26.dll” error. This is an assisting file for video capabilities with DirectX. It's missing because certain versions of DirectX don't include it. I have this file for download right below.
- d3dx9_26.dll Install Wizard (14.7 MB)
Installing it is quick and easy:
- Extract all the contents of the zip file and double-click on DXSETUP.EXE to open the install.
- Click I accept > Next > Next > Finish. That's it!
Setting up the keyboard or gamepad
- Go to File > Configuration.
- At the Configuration window, click on the Controllers tab.
- You'll arrive at the screen shown above. Click on the button you want to reconfigure, then press the keyboard key or gamepad button you want to change it to.
- Repeat the process to reconfigure all the buttons you want to change. Click OK when you're done.
Loading a PSX ISO
- You setup the BIOS, right? If you haven't already, do that first.
- Downloaded PlayStation 1 ISOs typically come in a ZIP, RAR, 7Z, or ECM file. The first step is to extract it. To extract a RAR or 7Z file you can use 7-Zip (it's free). To extract an ECM file watch this video.
- Using 7-Zip is easy. Just right-click the RAR or 7Z file and go to 7-Zip > Extract Here, as shown here .
- Once the ISO is extracted, now take notice of the file format of the ISO. pSX supports BIN/CUE, ISO, CCD, IMG, SUB, MDF, MDS, and CDZ. If your ISO is not in any of these formats, then you need to download the game from somewhere else to get it in a supported format.
- Next, we need to setup the memory card so you can save. You only need to do this once - you don't need to create a new memory card per game. Go to File > Configuration and click on the Memory Cards tab.
- You'll arrive at the screen below. Type a name for the memory card. Any name.
Click OK when you're done. - Finally, we can load an ISO. Go to File > Insert CD image.
- You'll arrive at the Open window. By default, pSX opens its “cdimages” folder. If you did not place your PlayStation 1 ISOs there, navigate to the folder in your computer where you have them. Click on your ISO file, then click Open - as shown here . That's it! The game won't load instantly; give it a minute.
Q: I get a “No .cue file found” error!
Ps2 Iso Files
Upon loading an ISO in BIN format, you may get the following error:
No .cue file found! Will attempt to guess format assuming single track
At this point, the game may or may not play. If it doesn't play, then you'd need to try downloading a BIN from elsewhere containing a CUE sheet. Or look for non-CUE-sheet-based ISOs in the following format: ISO, CCD, IMG, SUB, MDF, MDS, and CDZ.
Loading a PSX game CD
- You setup the BIOS, right? If you haven't already, do that first.
- First, we need to setup the memory card so you can save. You only need to do this once - you don't need to create a new memory card per game. Go to File > Configuration and click on the Memory Cards tab.
- You'll arrive at the screen below. Type a name for the memory card. Any name.
Click OK when you're done. - Now we can load your PlayStation 1 game CD. Insert it into your computer's CD drive, if you haven't already. Give it a moment for Windows to detect it.
- Finally, go to File > Insert CD drive. This will load your game CD. The game won't load instantly; give it a minute.
The ESC key closes pSX!!
Warning!! Pressing the ESC key closes pSX! This is dangerously confusing because most video game emulators exit fullscreen mode when you press ESC. Out of habit, you might accidentally close pSX and instantly lose all your game progress.
Fortunately, you can reconfigure the default keys for features in pSX. Here's how:
- Go to File > Configuration.
- Click on the Misc tab. As shown here , you can change the ESC key to “Exit fullscreen mode”.
Free Ps1 Iso Download
Full screen
Simply press Alt+Enter to bring pSX to full screen. Then press Alt+Enter again to bring it back to window mode. Take note of the above - pressing ESC while in fullscreen mode closes pSX!
CD swapping for multiple-CD games
You don't need to do anything special. At the point when the game asks you to insert the next CD, load it the same way you would load another game.
It's possible that pSX may return a blank screen when you attempt to swap discs. Give it a few minutes before you decide there may be a problem. pSX may even return an unhandled exception error. That's tricky to troubleshoot--read my section about the unhandled exception error. If you're having too much trouble, consider switching to ePSXe.
Ripping your PSX game CD to ISO
These days we have 1 TB hard drives, mobile devices, and laptops without a CD-ROM drive. All such devices are reasons for you to rip your PlayStation 1 games (if you refuse to download them from a ROM site). PSX games also run better & faster via ISO, as opposed to playing them via a CD-ROM drive. The following directions will show you how to rip your game CD. Specifically, it'll be ripped to “BIN/CUE”. It's a common type of ISO format.
- Download & install ImgBurn (it's free). You can download ImgBurn from the ImgBurn homepage.
*If you have an anti-virus such as AVG, it may flag ImgBurn for containing adware . Don't panic - it does not contain adware! This warning is false. All that ImgBurn does is show you ads during the install wizard (which is why AVG falsely flags it). ImgBurn is 100% safe. - Upon opening ImgBurn, click Create image file from disc, as shown here .
- Make sure the proper source drive is set in “Source”, then click the Read icon - as shown here .
- That's it! Ripping your game CD will take maybe 20-30 minutes. By default, ImgBurn will toss the BIN file (the ISO) into Documents.
Save states
Save states is a feature that saves the exact spot you are in any game. You can use this feature manually by going into the Run menu or by quick keyboard shortcuts.
- Capturing a state: To capture a save state go to File > Save state. Enter a name for the save and click Save. Or press the Enter key right after you type a name. When re-saving a save, you can save it as the same name to replace/update it.
- Loading a state: To load a state you previously saved, go to File > Load state. Select the save you want to load and click Load.
Pro tip: If you're playing a game that has in-game saving (such as an RPG) I recommend that you use both save states and in-game saving to save your games. That way you'll always have a backup.
Memory card: copying/moving/deleting saves
To manage your memory card and copy/move/delete saves are the same exact way as you do on the real thing. The following directions will guide you to the memory card management screen.
- Open pSX. If you setup the BIOS, pSX will enter the BIOS screen automatically. It's the first thing it does every time you open it.
- At the BIOS main screen , choose Memory Card.
- Now you're at the memory card management screen:
This is the screen where you can manage your memory card saves. You would do so exactly as you would on the real PlayStation 1 system.
Finding PSX ISOs
In my links page, I have some good links to sites where you can download PlayStation 1 ISOs. If you want to try to find more sites than what's in my collection of links, just Google around. For example, if you want to download Final Fantasy VII just Google “download final fantasy vii psx”.
Q: Can I transfer my memory card file to another PSX emulator?
Psx Rom Complete Bundle
Unfortunately, no. pSX doesn't use the MCR format for memory card files, which is the format that other PSX emulators use. And pSX save states definitely can't be transferred since save states are always exclusive to the emulator it came from.
Q: pSX isn't saving anything!
If you're using pSX for the first time and you're finding that you have all these problems:
- Save states aren't working. You save a state, then when you try to reload it nothing happens.
- When you save your game at a save point and close/re-open pSX, you find that the save is lost.
- Plug-in configurations that you changed aren't saved. When you close/re-open pSX, you have to make those configuration changes again.
Then your problem is that you currently have pSX in a read-only location on your computer. You must move pSX to a more common location such as Documents, Downloads, or a folder on your desktop.
Q: pSX gives me 'unhandled exception' error!
pSX may give you this error:
Unhandled exception. Save a crash dump?
This is pSX's catch-all error so it could mean any number of issues. All I can tell you is that the issue is most likely video related. Try the following troubleshooting measures:
- Restart your computer (if you haven't already). Then try pSX again.
- It's possible your BIOS is faulty. Try downloading the BIOS available in my emulators page.
- Make sure your video card has the latest drivers. Type the model of your video card in Google, followed by “drivers” to find them. After installing your latest drivers, restart your computer and try pSX again.
- It wouldn't hurt to also install DirectX.
If none of the above troubleshooting measures helped resolve the 'Unhandled exception' error, then I would presume that pSX is not fully compatible with your computer. I suppose try using ePSXe instead.
